  • 98 percent of all SMS messages are opened
  • 90 percent of all SMS messages are read in three minutes’
  • SMS CTR is 36 percent, while email CTR is just 3.2 percent
  • Most cart abandonments occur on Tuesday
  • The fewest cart abandonments are on Saturday
  • Add-to-cart rates are highest on desktops and tablets, 10.4 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively
  • Add-to-cart rates overall were 2.5 percent in Q3 of 2016

Consumers abandon online carts for several reasons. Unexpected shipping chargers are the reason why 28 percent of the time. A requirement to create an account causes 23 percent of cart abandonments. When broken down by industry, cart abandonment changes from sector to sector. Travel experiences 80.4 percent, financial services 79.3 percent, retail 73.9 percent, internet gaming 70.1 percent, and fashion is 68.3 percent. Sales by hour demonstrate the hours between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. are the highest on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
