AT&T has introduced its 5G network to NYC, but only for businesses now, as the race among telecoms heats up to be first in offering the newest generation…
Telecommunication giant AT&T has rolled out its 5G network in New York City. However, it’s only available for businesses and developers.
AT&T 5G Rolls Out in New York City for Businesses
The introduction of 5G in NYC by AT&T is another step in the long-awaited journey toward ubiquity. This is due to many factors. For instance, 5G is very limited in its coverage and frequently doesn’t work indoors. The range is quite small, making it necessary to install many more cell towers than its predecessor.
This represents the twenty-first city to get AT&T’s 5G network, but the roll out is far from complete. Better 5G technology is already out there but it too is very limited in its availability. It will ostensibly debut in the “coming months.”
Right now, consumers can expect to see nationwide coverage in the first half of next year but that doesn’t mean it will be available everywhere.
By comparison, Verizon only offers its 5G network in a handful of cities. Meanwhile, T-Mobile and Sprint also have limited access.
