Facebook is the First non-Google Mobile App to Reach over 5 Billion Downloads for Android

Facebook becomes the first non-Google mobile application to go over five billion installations for Android on the Google Play Store…

Google dominates the Play Store download numbers, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, many of its mobile apps come pre-installed on Android devices and that’s no small portion.

Now, Facebook joins in the elite market share, being downloaded more than 5 billion times. (Just about five years after the social network surpassed one billion downloads.)

Facebook First non-Google App to Surpass 5 Billion Android Installations

The Google Play Store now lists the Facebook app for Android to have in excess of 5 billion installs.

This too, isn’t really all that surprising given the fact Facebook has approximately 2.7 billion users. And, the social site has pre-installation deals with Samsung, LG, and previously, Huawei.
