The Facebook Instant Articles feature is popular with publishers. Now, the social network is testing another tool which will give select media outlets the ability to bundle multiple articles into one post. Facebook isn’t yet publicly stating much beyond the fact it’s working with globally media partners on the initiative.
Facebook Instant Articles Now Lets Publishers Curate Multiple Articles in One Post
Companies testing the technology include BILD, BuzzFeed, El Pais, Fox News, Hindustan Times, India Times, Refinery29, The Sun, USA Today, and The Washington Post, according to Facebook.
“As we better understand the value this experience provides people and publishers, we look forward to working with more of our partners to help shape the future direction of this experience,” the company wrote in a blog post. Last month, the social platform reportedly planned a Snapchat Discover replicant. But that tool consists of a series of channels dedicated to different media partners who produce daily multimedia content called “episodes.”
The Instant Articles multiple posts in one feature is available to users having the latest version of iOS and Android Facebook app within the next few weeks. Facebook is currently testing a video mid roll ad format, which allows producers to insert advertisements into clips after 20 seconds of viewing. The social network still prohibits the video pre-roll ad format, which many of its competitors use.
Additionally, the platform recently added automatic video captioning, which is editable by content publishers. It uses AI to translate verbal content into readable text so users can understand video content without enabling sound.
