Facebook May Moments Video Rolls Out

The Facebook May Moments video is now hitting both Android and iOS apps, appearing spontaneously at the top of users’ News Feeds…

Here it comes again. The world’s largest social network is now curating the Facebook May Moments video in users’ News Feeds. This represents a continuation of the practice, something the site announced many months back. It’s part of the platform’s ongoing battle against what it internally calls “context collapse” or a decline in “original content broadcasting.”

Facebook May Moments Video Arrives on Android, iOS

Facebook began releasing monthly and seasonal collages some time ago. These include, but are not limited to: Spring MemoriesJuneJuly, and AugustSummer Memories, as well as September and October memory collections. (Other recent curations are the Facebook February Moments video and Facebook Winter Memories.)

The last to roll out across the site was the April Moments video. Users have reacted in different ways. For example, when these collections first debuted, they were very popular. But over time, they haven’t necessarily received the same amount of fanfare. The social site began curating these moments collages after it hit 2 billion users when it apparently reached a saturation level. Since that time, the company has experienced shifts in user behavior metrics. It’s also attempting to rehabilitate its image after a number of scandals.

In fact, a report from Edison Research revealed the social network’s usage was decidedly down for the first time among Americans in November 2017. What’s more, the social site is either down or flat in every single demographic — whether it’s age groups, gender, or ethnicity. (Continue reading below to learn how to get the Facebook May Moments video…)

How to Get the Facebook May Moments Video

To get the Facebook May Moments video, simply open the app on Android or iOS and look for the prompt at the top of the News Feed. If available, it will appear automatically. But, if it isn’t, just check back periodically over the next several days.

It’s currently rolling out, so not all users will see it immediately. (Please note that Facebook only serves its memories collections spontaneously. The social site does not provide a dedicated page. There is also no option to retrieve the collages manually.)
