Google Assistant Payments Expand Outside the U.S. but No One can Use It Yet

Google Assistant payments just popped up in six different countries outside the United States but the tool isn’t functional at this time…

The Google Assistant is a powerful resource. With it, users can get information on-the-fly, set reminders, timers, and more, plus make purchases through Google Express or send money to others. But, the latter options are restricted to the United States. Meaning users outside the U.S. couldn’t even enable the payment system; that is, until now.

Google Assistant Payments Appear Outside the US in Six Countries

Over the course of the past few days, the feature became partially available to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and the U.K. The process is quite similar to the U.S. version. Here’s how to enable it:

  1. Open Google Assistant
  2. Tap the blue icon in the upper right
  3. Tap “Settings”
  4. Tap “Payments”
  5. Accept the Terms
  6. Add a payment method and shipping information

But, even users who follow-through with the payment method setup can only go this far. Unfortunately, the system still only supports transactions in the United States. Of course, this is probably the precursor to toll our Google Assistant payments worldwide. However, it could be just a technical error which allows it to show up in countries outside the U.S. That’s unlikely, yet still a tiny possibility.
