Google Assistant can now check the weather and traffic at a destination before users step foot outside, but it’s a bit buggy…
There’s no question that Google Assistant can do a lot — a whole lot. So much, there’s actually a very lengthy online directory or guide that details all its tools. But, that hasn’t stopped Google from adding additional functionality (and sometimes taking away features, as well.) Now, Google Assistant can tell users the traffic and weather conditions at a particular destination before they even step outside the door.
Google Assistant Your Places Weather and Traffic Checks Debut
The new Google Assistant destination traffic and weather check is a big help, when there’s a bit of distance in between. Meaning, it’s really not all that useful if it entails a quick trip to the nearest grocery store that’s just blocks or minutes away. But, it’s particularly helpful when commuting or visiting a place that’s a bit further away.
For instance, if you’re heading out to a theme park that’s a half-hour or more away, or going to a concert, or similar activities, it’s great. However, it doesn’t work perfectly all the time. Depending on the destination (and its proximity or distance), it might or might not work as it should.
How to Check Traffic and Weather in Google Assistant Your Places Section
Unfortunately, the new Google Assistant destination traffic and weather check isn’t out front. Instead, it’s tucked into the Settings section. Here’s how to check destination weather and traffic in Google Assistant:
- Open the Google app.
- Tap on the profile picture.
- Tap on Settings.
- Tap Google Assistant.
- Tap Your places.
- Select check traffic and/or weather under the desired location.
