Google Local Search Results Now Include Third-Party Reviews

Users will now see Google local search results third-party reviews inside the Knowledge Graph cards for Google My Business listings…

Google now includes third-party reviews on its local SERP or search engine results page. These appear in the Knowledge Graph cards for Google My Business listings.

It appears the search engine is integrating third-party reviews from sites like TripAdvisor and Booking.com. Additionally, reviews published directly on Google show up, as well. Here’s a screenshot, captured by SERP Tests.com:

However, this is different from the previous update last year. That change aggregated third-party reviews in the “Reviews” tab. Now, third-party reviews appear by clicking “View all reviews.”

Included third-party reviews display the full text, along with the source. If the full text exceeds the predetermined length, a link appears, directing users to the original source. What’s more, users can filter by source. This is done through the “All reviews” drop down menu. Sources currently include Google, Expedia, Booking.com, Agoda, and Hotels.com.

At this time, it’s unclear if the feature will expand to other queries. Currently, it’s appearing for hotels and resorts. It might make its way to restaurants and other businesses in the future if permanently adopted.
