Google is Highlighting Restaurants that have Earned User ‘Local Favorite’ Status

Google now brings the most highly user rated restaurants in three major cities to the forefront that have earned Local Favorite status…

Search behemoth Google is now placing a highlight on the most beloved eateries in three major US cities, including New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Google Now Highlights Local Favorite Restaurants

It’s part of a relatively new program called “Local Favorites,” which are the top user-rated places in a give area. Google introduced the system this past summer inside Google My Business.

At the time, the search engine did not provide much information about the benchmark, other than the fact it would only be awarded to the top 5 percent of business listings.

Google reveals more about what factors into its calculation of the top 5 percent of listings:

“Every day, people visit Business Profiles on Google to look at reviews, menus, or photos, and use that information to make decisions about where to eat or what new places to try. The Local Favorites lists use these ratings, reviews and actions people take on Business Profiles–like calling a business, clicking on the website, or requesting directions—to identify what restaurants to highlight.”
