Google Introduces Playable Podcasts in Search Results

Google has added playable podcasts to its search results, giving people immediate access to content, with the feature coming to Assistant later this year…

Surprise, surprise! Google had added playable podcasts to its search results. So now, when people “grilling podcasts,” they’ll see playable episodes right on the SERP or search engine results page.

Google SERP Playable Podcasts Debut

It provides people with many choices and Google states it will work to make content discoverable, even if people don’t expressly search with the term “podcast” in the query:

“Starting today, when you’re searching for a podcast about a topic on Google, such as ‘podcasts about Awkwafina’ or ‘Instant Pot recipe podcasts,’ we’ll show you playable episodes in Search results alongside web pages, news, images and videos. We’ll surface these episodes based on Google’s understanding of what’s being talked about on a podcast, so you can find even more relevant information about a topic in audio form. Soon, you won’t necessarily need the term ‘podcast’ in your search to see episodes, making podcast discovery simpler across Search.”

Google also states it plans to add the function to the Google Assistant sometime this year.

The feature is already live in the United States in English and will likely roll out to other markets in the future.
