Instagram is reportedly developing new shortcuts for its Android app, approximately three years after Google added the option to its mobile OS…
Back in 2016, Google introduced support for app shortcuts. Fast forward to the present and Instagram is finally getting on board. Although it debuted with Android 7.1 Nougat, there are nonetheless hold-outs.
It’s a handy feature, allowing users to go straight to actionable shortcuts, bypassing news feeds and other distractions.
Instagram Android App Shortcuts in the Works
The newly discovered Instagram Android app shortcuts are just now showing up for some select users. (The Facebook subsidiary first added support for the same ability via iOS in 2015.)
There are four shortcuts for the Instagram app for Android, including: Direct, View Activity, New Post, and Camera.
At this time, it’s a bit unclear how the new Instagram Android app shortcuts are showing up. But, they don’t appear through the latest update. Instead, it seems Instagram is enabling the functions remotely.
