An announced Instagram New Posts button will give users a manual option to see content in chronological order after its Feed algorithm change debacle…
Instagram isn’t reverting back to its old Feed. But, the company will roll out a new option to appease users upset by the last change. The social site announced it will introduce an Instagram New Posts button, allowing people to see the most recent content.

It’s important to note, at this time, the platform has no plans to bring back the chronological feed. But, this will help to improve UX or user experience with more fresh content surfacing. Additionally, the site will no longer automatically refresh the feed. (Which previously took users right back to the top.)
“With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about,” Instagram wrote.
Instagram switched from its once-familiar reverse-chronological feed to a relevancy-sorted feed in June 2016. The change did not sit well with many loyal users and remains a sore spot today. Although it did surface the most popular posts from friends, the feed included days-old posts.
This change comes as more users migrate away from parent company Facebook in the wake of the data scandal involving Cambridge Analytica. Instagram claims some 800 million monthly check-ins and boasts 500 million daily.
Thirty-five percent of U.S. adults are on the platform, representing a 7 percent increase from 2016, according to Pew Research. Research conducted by eMarketer forecasts Instagram will grow to 927.9 million users by 2021.
