The largest search portal just released a new Google App, desktop search interface, and Chrome version 55, each with improved functionality…
Google is quite busy, rolling out its newest Now app, an overhauled user desktop search interface, and a stable Chrome 55 version. The Google App is splitting in two, organized into interests and upcoming events.
New Google App, Desktop Search User Interface, Chrome Version 55 Released
“Starting today, in the Google app on Android (and coming soon to iOS), your cards will be organized into two sections. A feed that keeps you current on your interests like sports, news, and entertainment, and a section for your upcoming personal info, like flights, appointments and more,” Fred Brewin, Google product manager, wrote.
The search company states the more users interact with the app, the more relevant it becomes. A new card which allows users to select specific topics for improved personalization joins the “Customize” feature in the app.
The new desktop search interface appears widely released. Featuring sitelinks, cards, knowledge graph information, also searched for, and top stories. A colorful mic and magnifying glass icons accompany a shadow-enhanced clean search box:

Lastly, the Chrome 55 stable version is available. “The Chrome team is delighted to announce the promotion of Chrome 55 to the stable channel for Windows, Mac and Linux. This will roll out over the coming days/weeks,” its blog explains.
To check if it’s running, simply click on the far top right of the Chrome browser, scroll to “Help” and select “About Google Chrome.” In the past few weeks, Google began testing sitelink extension images and also expanded local rich cards to include restaurants and online courses.
