For those who are unfamiliar with TikTok, they might know it by its previous name, Musical.ly. Even if that’s not the case, TikTok is a short-video social platform enhanced by music. (The app even supports live broadcasting.)
And, it’s becoming more and more popular. Acquired by Chinese company Bytedance last year, it’s gained more than 30 million just over the past three months. During the same period monthly active users have risen from 100 million to over 130 million.
Furthermore, since it merged with Musical.ly US downloads have grown by 25 percent. Additionally, global installs have increased by 20 percent over the same time frame.
The app continues to catch on because of what it offers. And, it’s most popular among Android device owners. In fact, 80 percent of all user sessions occur on Android. What’s more, daily active users have risen by 67 percent over the past six months.
