Older models of Vizio smart televisions become the latest devices to lose support for streaming Netflix, joining Samsung, and Roku…
Older model Samsung TVS and some Roku devices aren’t the only ones to lose Netflix streaming support. Certain Vizio smart televisions are also slated to stop supporting the streaming service in December, too.
Vizio Smart TV Netflix Support Ending in December
Vizio smart television support for Netflix won’t affect every device. It’s only applicable to certain models. Impacted viewing apparatuses are relegated to the date of manufacturing. Support will end for Vizio TVs that are four years old or older this December.
This isn’t something that’s exclusive to Netflix and a limited number of OEMs. For instance, Hulu ended support for its streaming service on LG TVs manufactured prior to 2014.
The reason for all of this is quite simple. Older model televisions lack the necessities to continue to stream certain services. The problem is more acute for TVs because these hardware devices are upgrade much less frequently. Whereas people might buy new phones or purchase new laptops every couple to few years, the same isn’t true with televisions.
“Due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be supported on some devices beginning on December 1st, 2019. Some older Samsung smart TV’s are affected by this change. In the future, Netflix can be viewed from many other devices capable of connecting to your TV.“
