The new enterprise tool will first debut in India, where WhatsApp has more than 200 million users. But this isn’t the only company rolling out technology to that market. Last week, Microsoft introduced Skype Lite and Facebook attempted to bring Free Basics to the country last year.
“WhatsApp for Business is all about small and medium businesses. Where you have a small employee count and have a large customer count, and the goals are very different,” WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton reportedly said.
Currently, WhatsApp serves over 1 billion active users. In June 2013, hit a big milestone, processing about 27 billion messages in 24 hours. During that period, there were 10 billion incoming messages and 17 billion outgoing messages.
Another Facebook property, Instagram introduced an option to include up to 10 photos and videos in a single post. Yet another Snapchat, Facebook Direct Share, is likewise in testing.
