It also provides the ability to look-up an account and connect with someone just met without having to wait to log-on to the desktop site once back at the office. The intent is to give its user-base the ability to do some on-the-fly investigation, looking into the background of a professional right from their mobile device just prior to a meeting, during a chance encounter, or before being connected through the site.
LinkedIn Mobile Profiles Reflect Real Life Changes
The new LinkedIn mobile profiles are in response to the fact that 43 percent of all visits to the site come from a mobile device. That statistic was made public by Charlton Soesanto, mobile product manager for LinkedIn on the official LinkedIn Blog. “Innovate and radically rethink, focus and simplify what’s most important,” Soesanto explained in his post.
Because the average consumer in the United States spends in excess of two hours on a mobile device on a daily basis, the professional networking site is attempting to tap into that dynamic. However, most of that time is spent using apps, rather than browsing mobile sites.
The business-centric network has built a feature into its platform to offer users quick access to a lot of information. At the top of the new mobile profiles users will find things in common, basic information about the person’s work and job title. Scrolling down allows users to see more details, such as work history and interests; a bit further down is shared content and accomplishments.
Other LinkedIn Apps
The new app isn’t the only one the business social network offers its users. Another new app, Job Search, which is only available on the iPhone at this time, targets the 40 percent of users who are job hunting. The Connected app gives users the ability to stay in-touch. Other features include Pluse, Recruiter, and the familiar platform SlideShare.
In early July, the company debuted a pilot program, offering a treasure-trove of data to marketers. LinkedIn recently updated premium profiles and increased its user-base to 300 million professionals worldwide.
