Sunnyvale, California–Yelp reviews are now being displayed in Yahoo search results.
The Wall Street Journal reported last month the two companies were entering a partnership and the feature is now live. Currently, this integration is available on the desktop platform and in mobile search results as well.
The integration of Yelp reviews appears not only in Yahoo’s search results, but also on the tech company’s maps feature and on both interactions, local business information is available with a click.
Yelp Reviews and Yahoo Search
CEO Marissa Mayer has taken bold initiative to move the once great online company into the future; and, this is just the latest of such improvements made.
“Now when you use Yahoo Search to look up a local business in the U.S. on your smartphone, tablet, or PC, you’ll see user reviews, business information, and star ratings from Yelp. We’ve also added a new photo viewing experience to show high-quality photos from Yelp, other partners, and the businesses themselves,” Yahoo wrote in an announcement.
The company is officially phasing out third-party credential log-in, and users will have to create a Yahoo account in order to access the company’s many channels. It also revamped all its properties and the new feature will provide enhanced local results.
Yahoo was the first company that offered interactive mapping and was once the leading source in local search. Though many new changes have been made, the company still lags behind Google in search performance, with a modest market share. Currently, it runs its search queries through Bing, but Mayer has publicly stated she wishes to end that agreement.
