Google Pixel shipments managed to pull off an enormous feat last year, posting sales that surpassed 7.2 million across the globe…
Although there have been some (or several) reports about the disappointing sales of the Google Pixel 4 smartphone, the handhelds of last year posted some impressive numbers. In fact, Pixel sales sailed past their previous performances in years past. As a result, accomplished their most shipments to date, according to IDC.
2019 Google Pixel Shipments Exceed 7 Million Units Worldwide
Google Pixel shipments claimed more than 7.2 million units in 2019. This, with the Pixel 4 being part of the figures. (The Pixel 4 sales were approximately 2 million over the past six months, with a portion of those units moving in 2020.) Of course, this begs the question as to how the handhelds did so well through 2019.
At least part of their performance can obviously be attributed to the Pixel 3a and 3aXL — budget phones with more affordable prices of $399 and $499, respectively. Alternatives to the flagship models, these devices offered almost the same functionality, but did lack certain specs and features, including no water-resistance. To the point, the 3a models’ sales doubled during one quarter last year.
However, by comparison with rival smartphones, these figures are still relatively small. For example, Google’s market share didn’t even crack the top 10.
