Amazon Prime NFL Thursday Night Game Streaming Extended through 2022 Season

Amazon and the NFL Extend Thursday Night Game Streaming through the 2022 Season, including Exclusive Games

Amazon Prime will continue to broadcast NFL Thursday Night football games, along with exclusive games, at least through the 2022 season…

Three years ago, in 2017, the National Football League and Amazon struck a deal to stream Thursday Night games on Amazon Prime. The deal started out as a one-year contract, with an estimated value of $50 million. Then, the organizations renewed their mutual agreement in 2018 for two more years, with each season valued at an estimated $65 million per season.

Now, there’s yet another extension for another two years, going through 2022 between Amazon and the NFL. Amazon Prime has exclusive rights to stream the games worldwide, and Twitch — which is owned by Amazon — for the next three seasons.

Football lovers won’t necessarily have to subscribe to Amazon Prime in order to watch the games, though. The upcoming scheduled eleven games on Thursday nights are also broadcast by FOX (and through the Prime Video and Twitch websites and apps, as well). Plus, games are also available to watch on the NFL Network.

The NFL Thursday Night games have experienced larger viewership over time. In 2019 alone, an average of 15.4 viewers total tuned in via broadcast, cable, and digital, which represents an increase of approximately 4 percent over 2018.
