Android Google Maps Parking Information Now Available in 25 Cities

Google just updated its iOS maps app with real-time parking information. Now, the company is releasing the same update for Android Google Maps parking information. The new feature displays a parking difficulty icon, ranging from easy, to medium, to limited, right alongside the estimated time to arrival and mileage distance.

Android Google Maps Parking Information Ready for 25 Metropolitan Areas

“Factoring in time for parking can make or break a night out, let alone making it to that big meeting on time. So in 25 metro areas throughout the U.S., we’ve introduced a new parking difficulty icon in Google Maps for Android that’ll give you a heads up on what kind of parking crunch to prepare for when you’re on the go,” Jeff Albertson, Product Manager wrote.

Here are the twenty-five cities where Google Maps for Android shows parking information when displaying directions to a particular destination:

  • San Francisco
  • Seattle
  • Miami
  • Atlanta
  • Boston
  • Charlotte
  • Chicago
  • Detroit
  • Los Angeles
  • Minneapolis/St. Paul
  • New York City
  • Orlando
  • Philadelphia
  • Pittsburgh
  • San Diego
  • St. Louis
  • Tampa
  • Washington
  • DC
  • Cleveland
  • Dallas/Fort Worth
  • Denver
  • Houston
  • Phoenix
  • Portland
  • Sacramento

To use the new feature, simply update to the latest version of Google Maps. Then, request directions to a destination and a parking difficulty icon appears within the directions card on your mobile device.

The company also recently refreshed its Android Google App, which includes new shortcuts of frequently used features, such as weather, nearby restaurants, Solitaire and more.
