TikTok’s fledgling Android TV app is getting more smart TV support throughout the UK and Europe, with the United States to probably follow…
Late last year, TikTok introduced its first iteration of its Android TV app for Samsung televisions. Now, the wildly popular short-form video app — beloved by teens and influencers alike — will gain more ubiquity by expanding its reach in the United Kingdom and through most of Europe. (The United States is likely close behind but might be delayed, due to tensions between the US and China.)
Smart TVs are Getting More Social, with the Expansion of a TikTok App for Android TVs
This means that many smart television manufacturers will have the ability to support the TikTok app on their Android TV devices. These include such sets as the Cello Smart Android TV and the Sony A8H OLED and just about everything in between. Although, this isn’t exactly new. Other social media companies have offered apps for smart televisions for quite some time now. (But, the experiences have been less than ideal.)
TikTok is among the most popular social media platforms, with approximately 1 billion users worldwide, available in 162 countries, and almost 500 minutes per month spent on the app by the average user.
