Apple Introduces an Automated Service Allowing Users to Transfer iCloud Photos to Google

Apple Rolls Out a New Service that Gives Users the Ability to Automatically Transfer iCloud Photos Over to Google

Transferring iCloud Photos from Apple over to Google Photos previously required manual download, and now, there’s an automated tool…

Transferring pictures from Apple’s iCloud over to Google Photos was a tedious task — that is, until recently. It required people to manually download their desired media from their iCloud account and then manually upload said media to their Google account. Of course, this could be a lengthy and frustrating process, depending on what was involved. But now, Apple has introduced an automated tool to streamline the process.

People simply need to visit Apple’s Data and Privacy website and login to their iCloud accounts. Once logged in, go to “Transfer a copy of your data” and then mark the tick box beside Photos and/or Videos. From there, Apple requires users also log into their Google account to complete the process, which takes between 3 and 7 days. An Apple support page explains:

“You can request to transfer a copy of photos and videos you store in iCloud Photos to Google Photos. Transferring photos and videos from iCloud Photos doesn’t remove or alter the content you store with Apple, but sends a copy of your content to the other service.”
