AT&T has increased mobile data to 15GB per month for customers on its Mobile Share Value plan, but charges them another $10…
Telecommunications company AT&T just agreed to pay a $60 million fine to settle a case against it by the FTC for throttling “unlimited” customers’ plans. Now, the corporation is giving subscribers of its Mobile Share Value plan a “bonus” of more mobile data — increasing it to 15GB per month. However, the so-called bonus comes at a price — an extra $10 per month.
AT&T Mobile Share Value Plan Changes, Upping Mobile Data to 15GB (for an Extra $10 per Month)
The new AT&T Mobile Share Value Plan data upcharge comes as a surprise to customers. So, several have taken to social media to complain.
AT&T’s Mobile Share Value plans aren’t exactly inexpensive to begin with. The least costly option was previously $100 per month (before fees and taxes) for 20GB of rollover data. With the change, it’s now $110 per month for 35GB.
More curious is the fact AT&T touts its rollover data savings as a way to avoid more costly plans in the first place. Here’s how the company explains it on an official support document:
“Enjoy more data. Starting with your October 2019 bill, you’ll get an additional 15GB of data on your Mobile Share plan. This bonus data comes with a $10 price increase.”
