automatic Google Call Screen feature expands to the Pixel 3 and Pixel 2 phones

Google is Expanding its Automatic Call Screen Feature to the Pixel 2 and 3 Phones, Breaking its Exclusivity from the Pixel 4

Google first introduced its automated Call Screen tool last year, but it was restricted to the Pixel 4 and now, it’s starting to roll out to other models…

Late in 2019, Google debuted a neat new option designed to fight the scourge of robocalls — spam and scam alike. But, it only came with one particular handheld. Now, it’s making its way out to earlier models.

Automatic Google Call Screen Feature Expands to the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 Phones

Google’s automatic Call Screen feature, which namesake does precisely what it sounds like, is now starting to hit Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 phones. This, after it was previously limited to the Pixel 4, the device on which it first debuted. Recently, Pixel 2 and 3 owners have reported having it on their phones.

To be clear, Call Screen is already available on Pixel devices, but it isn’t automatic. Instead, it’s up to the owner to enable it. The current Screen Call tool includes different response options, such as “Tell me more,” “Is it urgent?,” “Call me back,” and more. However, all of these, including initiating Call Screen, are manual actions.

The Google Pixel automatic call screen feature works just a bit differently than its predecessor. When an unknown number phones, Google Assistant answers. Robocalls are immediately blocked thereafter. And, if there’s an actual human calling, Assistant allows the phone to ring.
