Beeper App Brings Apple's iMessage to Android Phones

This New App Lets Android Phone Owners Get their Apple iMessages with Ease

Beeper is a new unifying communications app that will support Apple’s iMessages on Android devices, as well as many others, too…

There’s no question that Apple’s iMessage is one of the best chat apps available. Even though Google’s Messages app has made leaps and bounds, including RCS or Rich Communication Service, iOS iMessage app can certainly be a preferable alternative — especially if switching over from Apple’s ecosystem to Google’s platforms. To assist in the transition, Beeper is a new app that brings iMessage support to Android phones.

Beeper is based on a technology called “Matrix.” But, it’s not perfect. Users still need a permanent Apple device to act as a bridge. That means having to keep a Mac awake and connected to the internet at all times. Or, Beeper will send users a jailbroken iPhone with the Beeper app installed that can bridge the connection. Of course, this is a bit of an inconvenience, but it’s something that’s a necessity to readily access iMessage on Android.

Apple’s iMessage isn’t the only chat app that’s supported, either. Beeper likewise supports more than a dozen other platforms, including the following:

  • Whatsapp
  • Facebook Messenger
  • iMessage
  • Android Messages (SMS)
  • Telegram
  • Twitter
  • Slack
  • Hangouts
  • Instagram
  • Skype
  • IRC
  • Matrix
  • Discord
  • Signal
  • Beeper network
