Chrome Dev 59 New Tab Changes Spotted

A change in the Google Chrome Dev 59 New Tab mobile browser app feature appears to make significant changes in the user interface or UI yet again…

Apparently, Google is changing the Chrome New Tab appearance in developer version 59. Chrome 54 experienced a massive change in its New Tab user interface and more changes rolled out in Chrome 56. Now, it looks like Chrome 59 will include more changes.

Currently, launching a new tab in the Chrome mobile browser goes to a landing page, complete with a large and colorful company logo, search bar, recent tabs, recent bookmarks, and “Articles for you.” But, the Chrome Dev 59 New Tab launches a slightly different experience, with the giant logo reduced to a small one, tucked into the left side of the search bar:

It appears all other components —┬árecent tabs, recent bookmarks, and “Articles for you” — all remain unchanged in Chrome Dev 59. (At least for the time being.)

Just last week, Google Chrome began rolling out 3D graphics support and background tab throttling. Also, Android Chrome 57 now includes custom tabs full-page controls. Earlier this month, Google launched the Chrome 57 desktop stable version.
