Google is finally addressing one of the most needed elements to Chromecast with Google TV, the addition of multiple user profiles…
Google has realized it’s missing one key feature on Chromecast with Google TV — multiple user profiles. A staple of streaming services for many apparent reasons, multiple user profiles are available on Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Amazon Prime, and more. Still, this option has managed to be absent on Google TV. Although, that oversight might soon come to an end.
Chromecast with Google TV may Gain Multiple User Profiles Soon
The folks over at 9to5Google took the time to tear down the latest launcher APK for Google TV. The behind-the-scenes examination revealed a few interesting tidbits. Most notably among them is a new option to, “Add another account to this device.” Which will allow different people to have “their own personalized Google TV experience.” However, it’s unknown if the profiles will also include individualized experiences of dedicated apps.
Another improvement is the expansion of support for kids’ profiles, which the company added just a couple/few months ago. Although, one of the most annoying aspects of Chromecast with Google TV apparently won’t be fixed — the single row library of purchased titles. Since its launch, the user’s purchase catalog is merely a straight horizontal list of titles, which is fine for those with only a dozen or less purchases but quite cumbersome for viewers who have purchased a huge number of movies and television shows.
