Cobra Kai season 3 to be Produced and Streamed by Netflix

We Now Know the Fate of Cobra Kai, Season 3, but its Future Beyond that is Uncertain

Just recently, YouTube announced it would pass the Karate Kid sequel over to another streaming service and now we know which one…

Only about two weeks ago, YouTube let It be known that it would not produce and host a third season of Cobra Kai. This, after the Google-owned video service canceled most of its original series.

Since that time, the fate of the three-installment movie franchise sequel was uncertain. Although, rumor had it that YouTube would pass it on to another streaming service. However, whether or not it would retain exclusive rights to the first two seasons was unknown.

Cobra Kai Season 3 to be Produced and Streamed on Netflix

Now, it’s been confirmed that the series will in fact go to Netflix, which will not only produce and stream Season 3, but also host seasons 1 and 2 sometime this year. (Whether or not Cobra Kai will go on to shoot a fourth run is not yet known. Or, if stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka will return — though it’s far more likely than not.)

But, execs are currently saying the move to Netflix is a way to continue and perhaps expand the series that found so much popularity as a YouTube original. Netflix’s VP of original series explains:

“The appeal of ‘The Karate Kid’ saga is timeless, and ‘Cobra Kai’ picks up right where it left off without missing a beat…. We can’t wait to introduce a new generation of fans to Cobra Kai and are thrilled to be its new home around the world.”
