Google is well-known for tweaking its ranking signals. So, it should come as no surprise that shifts noted in the SEO community this week, are nothing new. But, every change is important in an environment that’s so dynamic. Said shifts in rankings and traffic did occur and the search engine confirmed it’s released a “broad core algorithm update.”

It’s important to note, Google points out, it rolls out changes daily in order to improve its search results.

Confirmed Google Broad Core Algorithm Update Released

Some sites might have been negatively impacted by the update. But, Google states this isn’t necessarily due to the pages themselves. Rather, it’s more about delivering the most accurate search results. However, the search giant does advise sites to continue to publish high-quality content:

“Each day, Google usually releases one or more changes designed to improve our results. Some are focused around specific improvements. Some are broad changes. Last week, we released a broad core algorithm update. We do these routinely several times per year.

As with any update, some sites may note drops or gains. There’s nothing wrong with pages that may now perform less well. Instead, it’s that changes to our systems are benefiting pages that were previously under-rewarded.

There’s no “fix” for pages that may perform less well other than to remain focused on building great content. Over time, it may be that your content may rise relative to other pages.”

With this, Google is simply reiterating what it’s long encouraged. Sites which produce solid content will benefit. And, sites affected by such changes can improve their performance by publishing quality pages.
