The Disney Plus mobile app claimed the title of being the most downloaded in the last quarter of last year in the United States…
Disney definitely has a hit with its new Disney+ streaming service. In the first 24 hours of its debut, it amassed more than 10 million subscriptions. And, experienced 3.2 million mobile application downloads.
Disney Plus the Most Downloaded App in the United States for Q4 2019
New data from Sensor Tower clearly demonstrates US consumers really like streaming media. And, Disney+ greatly benefited from this, garnering more than 30 million installs for the fourth quarter of 2019.
This represents an almost double figure over the closest competitor, TikTok. What’s more, this accounts for both the Google Play Store, along with the Apple App Store.
Broken down, there were 12 million downloads from the Google Play Store and another 18 million installs from the Apple App Store. It also hits an additional milestone, accumulating over 10 million downloads in the United States from Google Play — that hasn’t been accomplished since Messenger did the same two years ago, in 2017.
Moreover, Disney+ also beat out rival Amazon Prime Video and partly-owned Hulu, combined for all of 2019. At least some of the credit goes to Verizon, which offered a free year of Disney+ for new sign-ups and Google, for giving away three free months, with the purchase of a new Chromebook.
