The New York Times recently published a profile piece on DuckDuckGo, reporting the privacy-focused search engine now handles 40 million daily searches.

The news of DuckDuckGo running 40 million queries daily puts the search engine up significantly from January, when it performed 34 million a day. 

Moreover, DuckDuckGo’s growth has tripled in the past two years. In fact, an April report revealed was the only Google competitor to gain organic search market share in the Q1 of 2019.

Also, DuckDuckGo has posted a profit for the past five years, according to the profile report.

DuckDuckGo versus Google

While the numbers alone are impressive, it’s remains a mere fraction of Google. Currently, there are approximately 2 trillion Google searches per day, with about 63,000 queries processed per second.
