Just the other day, Microsoft Teams went offline for a few hours. Turns out, it was due to an expired SSL certificate, which makes it possible for a web browser to connect to a web server.
Expired Certificate Interrupts Microsoft Teams Uptime
Microsoft Teams unexpectedly went down on Monday morning, failing to establish an HTTPS connection to the servers over at Microsoft.
For those unfamiliar, Microsoft Teams is the software company’s Slack competitor. It launched three years ago and boasts some really useful features, such as private channels and custom video chat backgrounds.
We’ve determined that an authentication certificate has expired causing, users to have issues using the service. We’re developing a fix to apply a new certificate to the service which will remediate impact. Further updates can be found under TM202916 in the admin center.
