Facebook and its subsidiary social site Instagram, have banned their influencers from promoting guns and vaping in branded content…
The world’s largest social network and its ultra-popular subsidiary already prohibit ads featuring guns and e-cigs, but now, the two companies are taking their proscriptions further. Facebook, along with Instagram, are closing a loophole that could allow merchants pitch their products regardless of the restrictions.
Facebook and Instagram Ban Influencers from Promoting Guns and Vaping
Facebook and Instagram have instituted new rules and announced the same will take effect in the “coming weeks.” Neither will allow “branded content” that promotes such goods on their platforms.
Basically, though tobacco, weapons, and vaping products were all disallowed on the two networks, that didn’t necessarily prohibit influencers from promoting such products.
Additionally, the sites will display “special restrictions” on posts marketing such products as alcohol and diet supplements.
