Facebook creator monetization is getting a boost, thanks to the social network’s need to grow its original content in a video-centric web…
Facebook has announced several new monetization options for creators. These include additional paid groups, ad placement, and Stars packs viewers can purchase to send over as tips during live streams.
Facebook Creator Monetization Updates Announced
For some time now, Facebook has attempted to bring over more creatives to its platform away from rivals YouTube and Patreon. (The latter introduced Fan Subscriptions earlier this year, which is a monthly $4.99 tip jar.)
The new features are intended to add more earning power from the Facebook creator community. Also, there’s an updated Brand Collabs Manager, along with an updated Creator Studio. The company likewise gives creators a Monetization Overview section which displays earnings from Facebook, Instagram, and IGTV.
Furthermore, Facebook is experimenting with additional fan access. One is supporter-only groups for monthly subscribers. This allows fans to connect with creators in a more private setting.
However, all of this does come with a cost. Facebook can siphon off as much as 30 percent of subscription earnings. Plus, the platform stipulates creators must agree to a lifetime license to use creators’ work even after they stop using Fan Subscriptions.
