Facebook is currently exploring an option to cross-post Facebook Stories to Instagram, in an effort to make sharing a bit simpler…
The stories format might have been introduced by Snapchat but it’s Instagram that really made it popular after cloning the feature. Now, Facebook is in the midst of analyzing how much its users would like the option to cross-post their Facebook Stories directly to subsidiary Instagram.
Facebook Experimenting with Stories Cross-Posting to Subsidiary Instagram
The latest experiment gives Facebook users the ability to share across both platforms with one simple step. (Instagram already allows people to share Instagram Stories on Facebook — something it debuted in October of 2017 — but not the other way around.)
If the test goes well, it could help drive up the number of Stories and thereby user engagement. Facebook pretty much owns the market share of the format, with Facebook Stories, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp Status claiming 500 million daily users a year ago, while Snapchat has just a total of 218 million users.
So, Facebook most definitely can benefit from more people creating and sharing ephemeral content, which has gained huge popularity due to the fact it disappears in 24 hours, taking with it any low reaction counts.
Unsurprisingly, Jane Manchung Wong was the first to uncover the experiment, posting a screenshot on Twitter.
