Facebook has confirmed it will shut down Group Stories on September 26th, after launching it just a mere nine months ago…
Social media behemoth Facebook confirmed earlier reports it would sunset Group Stories. The company states it will scuttle the option on Thursday, September 26th, effective at noon EST.
Facebook Group Stories is Shutting Down on September 26th
Facebook Group Stories went live only about nine months ago. But, during that time, it’s likely the feature never caught on with users. After Group Stories go away, Facebook says it will delete any existing Stories. Of course, users can’t create new ones but individual Stories will stay intact.
Facebook issued a short and oblique statement to CNET, which reads:
“We’re sunsetting group stories because we want to make sure that features in groups enable people to connect in fun and useful ways, and we’re always looking at ways to improve the overall experience for communities on Facebook.”
The social site hasn’t released details of Group Stories performance. Although, its untimely death strongly indicates not nearly enough interest from users.
Facebook is killing Stories in Groups!
The feature will be removed from ALL groups on Sept 26
