For some reason, Facebook just added a new status update option called “Did You Know.”  It’s located under “Answer a Question.” And, it basically asks random questions users can choose to answer and post on their timelines.

Facebook Did You Know Answer a Question post

It’s quite unclear what the social behemoth is attempting to do with this new feature. It is certainly a strange way to combat what the network internally calls “context collapse.” That’s an ongoing phenomenon of users spending more time on the platform but posting less original content.

To see it in action, simply open the Facebook app or go to the desktop site. Then, select “Answer a Question,” from the list of options. A question will appear and users can choose to see new questions. It also allows users to select a background color, tag friends, and more.
