A new Facebook Sponsored Posts info label is now appearing to some in an apparent test run for branded content disclosures…
Facebook continues its transparency efforts to better inform users of what they encounter on the platform. Now, the social network is testing a new feature, following its recent political ad labels. It appears the company is doing the same for branded content or Sponsored Posts.
Facebook Sponsored Posts Info Label Test Spotted
It’s labeled “About This Partnership,” and includes a short disclosure of the relationship. It tells users who paid for the ad, along with other pertinent information. Here’s a tweet about it:

This is quite similar to its political ad and issues labels, alerting users of the people and organizations behind them. Facebook first introduced Branded Content in 2016 and has tweaked it here and there since its debut.
Facebook just launched its Brand Collabs Manager back in June. That tool, “…lets brands search and find creators to potentially establish deals and partnerships with. We’ve been testing this with a limited set of partners, and will now be opening up more broadly.”
At this time, little is known about the new Facebook Sponsored Posts info label. So, it’s uncertain how widely distributed it is and whether or not it will become a permanent feature.
