Facebook Stories Testing Expands, a Snapchat Clone Feature

Facebook Stories, another Snapchat-esque feature, is expanding its testing to more of the social network’s users, a week after the launch of Messenger Day…

Only six days ago, Messenger Day went live and now, Facebook Stories, much like Instagram Stories, a Snapchat clone, is testing more widely. Although the social giant is roundly and largely criticized for its notorious Snapchat cloning, the strategy is succeeding. Instagram Stories, which launched in August of last year, has 150 million daily users.

Facebook Stories Testing Expands, a Snapchat-Like Tool

Facebook Stories, already in limited testing in Ireland, is now expanding to a much larger group of users in other countries. The mobile app is rolling out to users in Chile, Greece, and Vietnam, Facebook confirms. Like Snapchat Stories, Facebook Stories inserts images which disappear in 24 hours at the top of the app interface.

With 1.7 billion global users, Facebook is betting on feature will be new to those who do not use Snapchat or Instagram Stories. Apparently, the testing in Ireland proves it is a viable feature to expand to other markets.

At the beginning of the month, Facebook Messenger began testing a new chat UI and virtual assistant “M.” Facebook is also currently testing Direct Share, another Snapchat clone.
