Facebook’s Portal TV device, primarily a communication medium, now supports Netflix, joining Amazon Prime, Facebook Watch, and more…
Nearly two years ago, Facebook released its Portal devices, including Portal TV. Integrated with Amazon’s voice-controlled AI system, Alexa, the hardware was met with much public criticism. But, it offered several functions, including the ability to stream movies and television shows from Amazon Prime Video, Showtime, Sling TV, and Facebook Watch. But, it omitted the largest streaming platform, Netflix — until now.
Facebook’s Portal TV Now Supports Netflix
Facebook’s Portal TV Netflix support follows its partner, Amazon, which added the same compatibility just a couple of weeks ago. With the integrate, Facebook also revealed a new remote for Portal TV. The controller comes with dedicated buttons for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The new remote is already shipping with Portal TV devices, and it will be available in stores in the next few weeks.
But, that’s not all. Facebook has also added support for Zoom to its Portal devices, which can handle calls with up to 25 people at a time. (Facebook said back in August it would bring more video calling services to Portal.) Additionally, the company brought Spanish voice commands to Portal, as well.
