Gartner Predicts 60 Percent of Large and Global Enterprises will be Passwordless for Over Half of Use Cases by 2022
World Password Day was held back on May 6th. And, it served as a reminder of just how passwords perform in the way of security for authentication practices. As almost everyone knows, this form of signing into websites isn’t ideal from a security perspective. In fact, Apple recently unveiled Passkeys, which rely on Face ID and Touch ID, and serve as as replacement to passwords.
Gartner estimates a passwordless world will begin its earnest manifestation by next year. The firm predicts 60% of large and international enterprises will be passwordless for over half of use cases in 2022. Moreover, the former figure increases to 90% for midsize companies, who are also likely to forego passwords for other and more effective forms of authentication.
