The newly introduced Gmail quick-access side panel apps will soon become available on other Google services, such as Docs, Calendar, and more…
Google released its much-anticipated Gmail redesign for the web back in April. With it, came more than a few handy new features. One tool is quick access to Google Calendar directly through the user interface. Another, a snooze option for messages for preset times to resurface hours or days later. Also, it includes smart reply, as well as smart compose. Yet another is a quick-access side panel. It places both the Keep and Calendar apps in a right column for ease of use.

Now, Google will apply that element to other services, such as Docs, Calendar, and Tasks. It’s a great productivity tool which allows users to access apps without having to leave one platform for the other.
It also gives users the power to drag and drop in-between portals. For instance, dragging a Gmail message over to the Calendar widget to create a reminder. G Suite user can access products from Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings to do a few different tasks. This is what Google writes about it on its official G Suite Updates blog post:
“You’ll be able to access three G Suite products from Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings:
- Google Calendar: Quickly reference, create or edit invites.
- Google Keep: Easily take notes, create lists, and see your other content.
- Google Tasks: Manage your tasks and to-dos.
You’ll also see the side panel in Google Calendar, where you’ll be able to use Keep and Tasks.”

The new tools will roll out in the coming weeks to all web users.
