Google is bringing AI to help auto-correct spelling errors and grammar mistakes in Gmail, beginning with G Suite users…
Gmail Spelling and Grammar Auto-Correct Debuts in G Suite
The update is already rolling out to G Suite customers. It uses AI to detect writing mistakes. So, if there’s a minor typo, Gmail will automatically correct the spelling.
Additionally, Gmail will display a squiggly blue line to alert users to grammatical errors. This might look and sound familiar because it is — Google brought the same tech to Google Docs back in February.
Google writes on the G Suite Updates blog, the following:
“We’re introducing new spelling and grammar correction capabilities for Gmail to help you compose emails quickly with confidence.
As you type your message, Gmail will use artificial intelligence to make smarter spell-check suggestions while also detecting potential grammar issues. For some common spelling mistakes, we’ve also added as-you-type autocorrection for improved accuracy.”
