Five Years after its Launch, Google Finally Adds this Basic Streaming Feature to YouTube TV

Google Adds an Account Switcher to YouTube TV

Google is finally adding an account switcher to YouTube TV making it easy to jump between different profiles for a more customized experience…

Google first introduced YouTube TV in late February of 2017. It served as a happy medium between cord-cutting streaming and live programming. So, it gives viewers the best of both worlds. But, for the past five years, it has missed one of the most basic streaming functionalities. That is, for subscribers to set up multiple profiles, and switch between them on demand.

Google Adds an Account Switcher to YouTube TV

The new YouTube TV account picker is very much like any other streaming service. It allows multiple people in one household to set up individual profiles. Then, when desired, switch between those profiles to enjoy a more customized experience. When viewers launch the app, they’ll see a familiar screen that asks who is watching. The welcome screen also has an option to add a new profile.

Fortunately, for single subscribers, there’s a way to disable the future. To turn the account switcher off, simply go into settings and disable it. In the case multiple profiles are needed some time in the future, this option can be enabled again, allowing multiple profiles to switch between.
