The new Google Cameos app gives celebrities and public figures the ability to post answers to questions right on the search results page…
Google has introduced a new app for public figures, including celebrities and professional athletes. It’s an app called “Cameos” and it gives them the ability to post video responses to their most frequently asked questions in Google search results.
Google Cameos App Debuts for Search Results
The new Google Cameos app is designed to ensure people get the most accurate information about them within Google search:
“Cameos on Google lets you be the authority on you. Record video answers to the most asked questions on Google and then post them right to Google. Now, when people search for you, they’ll get answers directly from you.”
Cameos is actually an expansion of a feature the search giant debuted last year in a pilot project. That embedded answers from public figures into mobile search results. Initially, it launched with a select group of celebrities but now, the option is available to all qualified applicants.
Here’s how it works. Google presents the person with a popular question. Then, the individuals provide a response. The captured recording then appears in search results. It also might surface in the Google Feed app for people who’ve previously shown interest in that celebrity:
“All your answers get posted right to Google and your fans will see it when they search for you or scroll through their feed in the Google app.”
The video responses are limited to the United States on mobile.
