Google Duo Video Calling App Hits 5 Billion Installs on the Google Play Store

The Google Duo Video Calling App just Reached an Unbelievable Milestone

The Google Duo video-calling mobile app now claims 5 billion downloads from the Google Play Store and counting…

Google first released its Duo video call application back in 2019. And, in less than 3 years, it’s managed to rack up an impressive 5 billion installations on mobile devices all over the world from the Google Play Store. This is quite an accomplishment, despite the fact that the app comes pre-installed on millions of Android devices.

Google first introduced Duo with the intention of merging it with Meet — its commercial Enterprise counterpart. Even though Meet has been integrated into Gmail, its marriage to Duo no longer seems to be in the cards. But, Duo has managed to grow exponentially on its own.

One of its advantages is that it does come preloaded on millions of Android devices. However, it is also available on iOS. What’s more, it is also available on smart display devices, giving it a wider cross-platform berth. The global pandemic shutdowns also helped to spur its growth as people sought ways to communicate. All in all, its simple-to-use interface and reliability have also contributed to its widespread popularity.
