A new Google Maps redesign is set to go live over the next few weeks, with color codes, symbols, and plenty more to help users commute and travel better…
Google announced it’s bringing a new look to Maps. And, the redesign includes quite a few useful features. Over the next few weeks, Google Maps will get a plethora of highlighted information the search giant thinks are most relevant to commuters and travelers.
Google Maps Redesign Rolling Out
The refresh includes a new category color scheme. Those categories include: Food and Drink, Shopping, Health, Entertainment/Leisure, Services, Civil Services/Worship, Outdoor, and Transport:

Google states the purpose is it provide is Maps users with on-demand information when commuting or traveling. For instance, if a person is in an unfamiliar neighborhood and wants to find the nearest burger spot, it’s easy to readily identify.

Additionally, the search engine released a handy cheat sheet. This contains not the color codes. It also contains all the symbols which will appear on the updated version of Maps.
These changes to Maps will also be included in other Google Apps. Which include those that grab information from Google Maps. These include Assistant, Search, Earth, as well as Android Auto.
