Google Maps Adds a Restroom Locator in India

A new Google Maps restroom locator is helping people in India find facilities along or near trave routes, in a government assisted effort…

Google subsidiary Waze just added a new road toll fee estimator to its app. But sometimes, it’s the call of nature which is most important on a trip. So, Google is working with the government of India’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on a new “Loo Review” restroom locator campaign.

Google Maps Restroom Locator Debuts in India

The new Google Maps restroom locator has already mapped out approximately 45,000 toilets, across some 1,700 cities.

Now, people can search for a nearby restroom facility within Google Maps, aided along by Google Assistant.

It’s very simple. Just open the Google Maps mobile app and ask for “toilets nearby [place],” for example.

At this time, the feature is limited to India, but it might make its way to other regions and countries in the future.
