Google Maps is adding a toll estimator, along with showing traffic signals and stop signs beginning this month, ahead of summer road trips…
Google Maps is about to get a lot more helpful. By the end of this month, the company will roll out some very useful new features to help people better plan their road trips and even unfamiliar detours on their regular commutes. Google Maps will show toll estimates, as well as traffic lights and stop signs, making it easier to plan for different destinations.
Google Maps to Estimate Tolls, Show Traffic Lights and Stop Signs, Starting this Month
Google Maps toll estimates probably won’t be exact to the penny, but they’ll certainly give drivers and co-pilots enough information to bring the right amount of folding paper and loose change or to load up their electronic toll transponder account in advance. Of course, this will also give road trippers the opportunity to avoid tolls altogether, something Google Maps has long offered in its mobile app and on its desktop interface.
Showing traffic signals and stop signs will also give drivers a better idea of the route they are taking to any destination. Combined with showing traffic conditions, this will offer a more robust and informed experience for commutes, errands, and road trips.
